The Challenge?

The Crown Commercial Services Board needed to find a new Executive Development of Business Development and Growth. The appointee would to increase turnover from £18 billion to £30 billion in five years.

The Solution?

We understood the need for a candidate with leadership capability and grounded insight into both the public and private sector markets. Our approach was to cast the net across organisations that had scale, complexity and direct interaction with the public sector.

We approached candidates that had both commercial skill and an understanding of the nuances of working with public sector C-suite and senior politicians.

With carefully positioned advertising and research we secured over 100 applications. Following sifting and interview, Penna produced a shortlist of 5 highly credible candidates for presentation to the Civil Service Commissioner led Appointments Committee. These candidates were asked to produce detailed business cases and invited to interview.

The Result?

The successful appointment and on-boarding of Sean Perry-Evans from the French multinational Thales where he led the sales and business development in the UK as part of the Thales UK & Ireland Management Board.
